Family Fun

My parents and brother came to Rexburg to visit Kelly and I. We had an awesome time and were so happy to have them. We were able to spend a lot of time talking and catching up. We went to Idaho Falls and the boys did some Go-carting while the girls got their toes done.

Chad was able to legitimately beat the entire family in a bowling tournament. He bowls every Tuesday and he explained to us that his coach Amy taught him everything he knows. The kid throws the ball incredibly hard. The last time I bowled with him he would throw super hard but the ball went to the left or right and he would gutter about 80% of his shots. Chad has figured out how to get the ball down the center of the lane and he schooled everyone...it was awesome!

We don't have church till 1 so we decided to go on a hike Sunday morning. We thought the trail was about 30 minutes away but it ended up taking us 90 minutes to get there. The plan was to do the entire loop to the lake, which was about 8 miles, but we were only able to hike about 45 minutes before we had to go back. It was a beautiful area and Kelly and I will definitely go back to see the lake.

The hike up to the lake follows a stream. It was so peaceful to listen to the water as we walked.

It was finally sunny and nice in Eastern Idaho, in the high 60's and low 70's. My parents are not used to such mild temperatures...they were cold!

This is my brother Chad, we had so much fun showing him where we live. He is such a blessing to us and we are grateful for his perfect example.

It's Late!

It is funny to think about how much life changes when you get married. I used to used to stay up every night till 1 or 2 in the morning and I would get up at 8 AM for class. Kelly and I always joke that we don't know how we even functioned when we were dating because we were seriously sleep deprived. Once we got married I felt like a whole new person...it's amazing what 8 hours of sleep a night will do for you! I am up late tonight because I am waiting to register for classes for the fall. Registration begins at midnight and a lot of my classes only have 3 or 4 spots left, so I am waiting to click the "add" button right at the stroke of 12!

Memorial Day Weekend

Kelly and I went to his parents house in Star Valley, WY for our long weekend. Kelly's sister April, and her husband Billy were there as well. We invented a new game called paddle-wack-it. We moved all the furniture in the basement and put tape on the floor to make a court. We got a small handball and some big paddles and took turns hitting the ball against the wall. It was very similar to racketball. We played for hours and had a blast.
On Monday morning we went to Billy's house for a horse ride! Who would have ever thought that I would ride a horse?! It was a ton of fun but I have to say...I am quite sore today. The whole weekend was filled with fun and relaxation and was the perfect break from our busy school schedules.
Thats right...I rode a horse all by myself!!

Picture Update

I am taking a photography class this semester and I decided to use Kelly as one of my subjects. He thinks he is completely unphotogenic but I LOVED this picture of him. He is just so freaking cute!!!! Don't you just want to sqeeze him?

Kelly and I have the greatest friends ever. We met Andrew and Jessica while Andrew and Kelly worked together last summer. Our husbands took us out on a double date and Jess and I clicked right away. We always have so much fun together...Jess is hilarious. We feel blessed to have such awesome friends and will be sad to see them go in July when Andrew graduates.

Living the Life

2 weeks down and 12 to go till this semester is over. That's right Kelly and I just started a new semester and it has been crazy! For those who don't know, we go to BYU-Idaho and they have whats called a "track system" ... meaning all students go to school for 2, 14 week semesters, and there are 3 semesters to choose from (Fall, Winter, and Summer). They don't include spring because there is no such thing (its May and we're still enduring snow, hence the no spring thing!) Kelly and I are both on the Summer/Fall track so we finish up this semester in July and then we get a nice 7 week break and go back to school in September.

School is a really busy this semester. Kelly and I are both getting into our upper division classes and it has proven to be quite time consuming. Kelly's hardest class is Accounting 201, we know quite a few people who failed the class multiple times. He had his first test last week and he got an A! I am incredibly proud of him. It's no secret that he is not the biggest fan of school but he works so hard because he wants to be able to provide for our family.

Kelly is the best husband ever. He treats me with the utmost respect and honor. He is a worthy priesthood holder and is a spiritual strength to our family. He is a truly hard worker and I know he would do anything for me (and me for him!) I thank my Heavenly Father everyday to have a loving husband and I cherish every moment I get to spend with him. I love you Kelly!

This weekend we needed a break and we went on a double date with our best friends Andrew and Jess. We had dinner and then saw 21 (entertaining). While we were killing time before the movie started we went to Idaho Falls and bought candy and decided to take some pictures ... with our candy necklaces, of course!

What a Mess!

The mixer and I got into a huge fight yesterday while I was making cookies. I'm a bit rusty in the baking department and I thought it would be a good idea to add 3 cups of flour to the mixture and then turn the mixer onto full blast! As you can see it wasn't a pretty sight...the picture doesn't even do it justice. The flour went everywhere. Kelly and I got a good laugh though. I had fun and I like finding an excuse to wear my cute apron!

Squabble

This weekend Kelly and I had some friends over for a rousing game of Scene-It Squabble. It is a battle of the sexes type game. We could not stop laughing and it got pretty heated...the girls were determined to win! One of the trivia questions for the boys was, "name the three sisters from the Brady Bunch." Their answers: Marsha, Jane, and Wendy. It took everything in me not to just blirt out the answers. They were so close, yet so wrong. It was hilarious. What a fun night!

When we were in California last weekend the boys got to go to a Giants game while the girls went on a shopping spree!
The boys enjoyed a very warm day in the city watching the game. It went into extra-innings. Kelly said it was really exciting.
My dad got these tickets from work so the seats were pretty good!
I just threw this one in because I thought it was cute. Kelly and Nicholas were buddies during the tour of Alcatraz.

The San Francisco Treat

On our first day in California we drove to San Francisco to see the sights. Kelly had never been there and we wanted to show him around. We went to Pier 39 and had lunch at Boudin's Sourdough Bread and it was delicious. We walked around the pier and got to watch the sea lions and went to a few of the shops. After lunch we took a tour out to Alcatraz Island and walked around the jail. I had never been on an Alcatraz tour and it was awesome. On the way home we got stuck in traffic (it took us an hour just to get to the freeway). Kelly even got out of the car, went into a shop, bought a soda and came back and our car had not moved AT ALL. Overall we had an awesome day and could not have asked for better weather.

Nicholas was an angel all day, he didn't cry once. The weather was much warmer than we expected so he went without pants for a good part of the day...he is AdOrAbLe!

Game Night

Kelly and I went to our good friends Andrew and Jess' house a while back and had dinner and game night. It was a really fun night full of Fettucini Alfredo, Brownie Sunday's and Cranium. Andrew and Jess had never played Cranium before and we could not have laughed more. At one point Andrew was trying to make Jess guess the word model by molding her body. He put her on the floor and was trying to pose her body in different modeling posistions. She wasn't even close to guessing it...at one point she thought Andrew was trying to make her guess baby Jesus! It was hilarious. We just love having such good friends here in Rexburg. Kelly Wins

Kelly won our little March Madness competition so he got to pick his favorite restaurant. Last week we went to Texas Roadhouse and Kelly thoroughly enjoyed his slab of ribs. We were celebrating Kelly's victory and my last day of work. It was a great excuse for a date-night.

Relief

Today is my last day working at ProAlarm. I have enjoyed my time here and it has been a great job but I really want to focus on school this next semester. I have worked here for over a year but I have to say I'm not sad to leave! Kelly and I are headed to California tomorrow to visit my family. My parents have planned a lot of fun things and we can't wait to see our Nephew, he is getting HUGE. I will post pictures when we get back. Have a good weekend everyone!

The Dog Ate My Homework

This semester Kelly and I have been off-track (meaning we can't enroll in classes) so I decided to take a couple non-traditional classes. I took an online class, Media Law and Ethics, and an evening class, New Testament. It has worked out really well for me because work has slowed down quite a bit and I have time to finish all my homework during the day so I can still spend time with Kelly at night. It's been awesome.
Last week I had to take my final for my Ethics class, it was online, and it had to be done by Friday at 5 p.m. I studied all week and on Thursday night I sat down to take it. It was 100 questions and I only had 90 minutes to finish it. It was open book and open note. Question number 16 was one that I remember was exactly the same as one of our previous quiz questions so I clicked out of the test to search for that past quiz. As soon as I clicked out of the test browser I realized I would be locked out. I immediately tried to go back to the test but sure enough...no luck. I emailed my teacher right away and let her know that I needed to take the test that night because I would be at work the entire next day. It was already 8 p.m. so I knew she would not even see my email until the next morning. I decided to try and find her phone number so I could call and ask her to unlock the test. I even stalked her on the internet and found her home address but no phone number.
At this point I was freaking out because if I couldn't take the final I was surely going to fail the class. I had spent countless hours on this class and those hard worked hours were going to be completely useless...talk about frustrating.
There is something about the presence of my sweet husband that makes me feel calm. When he came upstairs and I explained to him what happened, I started crying. I don't know what it is, but when something bad happens I can usually keep my cool until I see him and then I loose it. He is always so patient with me and he has a way of making me feel better.
My teacher didn't end up emailing me back until 11 a.m. on Friday. She said she would unlock the test for me but I still needed to take it by 5 p.m. that night. I was supposed to be at work till 5 so I decided to take a 2 hour lunch so I could finish the test. Luckily everything worked out, but boy was that a stressful couple of days.
I feel lucky to have a guy like Kelly who is so supportive of everything I do. He is the most amazing guy in the world.

March Madness

Kelly and I filled out brackets this year and have had a lot of fun following the games. I chose UCLA to win it all (Nedda will be happy about that:) and Kelly chose Memphis. The winner gets to pick where we go out to dinner for one of our Friday night dates. Thus far I am winning 30 to 27 (and I don't know anything about basketball!)

New Couches

For my Birthday this year I pooled all my money and decided to buy some new couches. I could not be happier with them. They are super comfortable and look pretty darn good. I love being in my living room now.

Easter In St. George

Okay I just want to say, I love St. George!!! Some of Kelly's family met in St. George this weekend to celebrate Easter together. We had an awesome time shopping and hiking and playing Rock Band. The weather could not have been more perfect and we loved getting to play with the little kids. We were sad to leave and come back to the icy tundra of Rexburg, ID. We came back to heavy winds and snow...I want to move!!!

No More Leaky Windows

Everything has been going really well for Kelly and I in the past few weeks. The biggest thing that happened in our lives is...WE MOVED! We could not be more excited about our new apartment. In fact, the day we were moving out of our old apartment our windows started horribly leaking and there was water everywhere. Boy were we glad to leave! Our new apartment is awesome. It is two stories, the bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs and the living room, laundry, and kitchen are downstairs. And yes I did say laundry. We now have our very own washer and drier...no more laundermats. It is wonderful to have two bedrooms instead of one. Kelly and I were laughing when we moved in because we pretty much filled the whole apartment and we were really mind boggled as to how we fit everything into our old apartment! My mom is coming into town today to help me get everything set up and decorated. Now that the organization and moving part is over, the fun part begins. I can't wait to get everything decorated and make it really feel like home. And thanks to Kelly's parents for helping us move!! I'm sure I'll post more pictures of the inside when everything is done!

Lets Get Away

For Christmas I got Kelly tickets to a Utah Jazz basketball game. Last weekend we packed up and hit the road for Salt Lake. We could not have had more fun. We started our trip on Saturday morning by stopping off at Horkleys (our local gas station that sells really cheap drinks) and bought two huge sodas. Then about twenty minutes into the trip we had to make a pit stop to use the bathroom (too much soda, it goes right through me!). We took our time getting to Salt Lake and stopped a few times to grab a bite to eat. When we arrived we checked into our hotel. We didn't want to make the trip too expensive so we stayed at a Motel 6...we will never do that again. The room was absolutely tiny and we had a horrible nights sleep because the bed was so darn uncomfortable. You live and learn I guess. We have both been craving Chinese food, since Rexburg doesn't have anything close to being edible Chinese, we headed to Panda Express for dinner. It was delicious and definitely satisfied our cravings! We decided to go walk around Temple Square before the game and we loved it. We had both been before, but I always forget how amazing and gorgeous the temple is. It is absolutely beautiful and I am always surprised at how big it is. We were total tourists and stopped some random lady to ask her to take our picture. I think the women was a proffessional photographer and took a very nice shot of us in front of the temple.

After Temple Square it was finally time to go to the Jazz Game. Our tickets were about 6 rows from the very top of the stadium but we didn't care...it was so much fun. We bought Nacho's and Ice Cream at half time and scarfed them down! The Jazz were playing the Chicago Bulls and it was a close game until the last 5 minutes or so when the Jazz took the lead. What a fun night!!!To end our trip, we drove to Draper and stopped off at Ikea (this was my idea of course!). My birthday is coming up and I wanted to get a new coffee table. I had never been to Ikea before this trip and I LOVED it! The store was enourmous and we spent about 2 hours browsing. Kelly was a real trooper and didn't complain once. We purchased our coffee table, among other things, and headed back home, but not before stopping at Chipotle and scarfing down two huge burritos!! Our weekend away was incredibly fun and we can't wait to do it again.

Sick!

Kelly and I have been cursed! We have been sick for every major holiday since we got married. On Christmas, Kelly had the worst flu I have ever seen and now on Valentines Day, I got the bug that has been going around. The coughing, fever, runny nose bug. No fun! I can't wait to see what happens on Easter...

Gordon B. Hinckley

Our wonderful Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley passed away at the age of 97 on Sunday. He was a wonderful man and was loved by all. I will remember him for his humor and good nature. I am so grateful for all the service he gave to the church. My mother-in-law just emailed me this poem that I wanted to share with everyone.

Prophetic Passing
I imagine he's running to Marjorie now,
Yes, running, not waving his cane.
I see him embracing his father and mother
While they keep repeating his name.

I see him now meeting his forebears,
Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.
Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service
That only such noble men share.

I see him embraced by the Savior While Father says,
"Good and well done.
So faithful in stalwart endurance, I welcome

I want one

Has anyone ever noticed how incredibly cute bulldogs are? Seriously, they are one of the cutest creatures to ever walk the earth. Kelly and I enjoy watching the MTV show Rob and Big and this is where I learned of my passion for bulldogs. Rob and Big have this adorable bulldog named "Meaty." He is the perfect companion and he even learned to skateboard. I have done my research and learned they are good with children and love to be around people. I went through a stage where I was determined to buy one, Kelly said no. In case you didn't realize, he's the rational one in this relationship. If only we didn't live in a tiny apartment! Nevertheless, we will eventually add one of these wonderful animals to our family.
You can't say they aren't cute...don't you just want to squeeze them?
